Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings

This room contains a few chairs, a table, a large bookshelf and another door. It looks like a meeting room of sorts.

"Bastards tore my new pants." Shathys mumbles. "Ameiko had better be good with a needle and thread."

East door!

A wheelbarrow sits against a wall here, and shelves on the walls contain additional reagents required in making colored glass. A safe in the floor hangs open and empty. Several stacks of wooden crates fill up most of the room. There are two additional doors in the room: north and west.

Jack opens the west door for completion's sake and then opens north door if there's nothing interesting.

This room is filled with more ingredients used for glassmaking: sand, soda ash, and lime. Upon further inspection, you find a red piece of glass almost six feet long. A staff-shaped object is encased in it.

"Uh... Feel anything Shara?"

"Mainly curiousity" She says with a smile. She takes a step closer to the glass and reaches out with her magic.

The staff inside is clearly magical.

"I'm pretty tempted to take it out of the glass and examine it. What do you say?"

"Sure, just don't explode or turn evil."

"I'll do my best". Shara takes her staff and tries to carefully shatter the glass. She doesn't want to smash broken glass all over the place.

The glass is easily broken, and after a few moments you hold a fairly powerful magical staff in your hands.

"I've never seen anything like this." Shara stutters. "It's like it's made for my hand. Would you terribly mind if i kept it, I think i'm in love."

Jack eyes it suspiciously. "I wonder what a magical staff was doing in here of all places." he shrugs. "Keep it, might be useful."

Shara jumps up and hugs Jack with a huge smile on her face. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!". It's times like these you can see that she is still quite young. It's clear that she wouldn't have kept it if Jack told her no.

Osmus, who has been quiet for the entire day, proceeds to walk over to the staff and pee on it. Nobody really knows why, it's not like he is a dog or something.

"Err, no problem." He coughs and strides toward the north door, not quite sure what to make of himself.

And then you're at the north door.

Jack shakes his head to clear his mind and opens the door, prepared to strike or raise his shield.

Ignoring the smell of dragonling urine, Shara examines her new friend. The staff is slightly taller than she is and very light. It appears to be made of some kind of wood, but none you've ever seen before. It is smooth, though you can see the contours of the material. Whenever Shara touches it, her fingerprints glow in the same colour of her eyes.

She feels a deep connection with the staff already and they seem to be a perfect match.

A long furnace burns along the southeast wall of this very long room. Marble tables sit throughout the chamber with nearby wooden tables cluttered with various tools of the trade. The building’s furnace rumbles loudly and several openings to the furnace burn along the western wall.

The room is a gruesome display of goblin boredom. The bodies of the eight murdered staffers lie in various stages of dismemberment; from the smell of burnt meat that fills the room, the goblins have been burning legs and arms in the furnace and pouring melted glass on the remains in an attempt to duplicate the gruesome figure in the middle of the room. A man's body, propped up in a chair in the central alcove and encased in thick runny sheets of hardened glass.

Eight goblins of varying shapes and sizes stop in the midst of pouring molten glass over the bodies and stare in surprise at Jack as he enters. After a moment of stunned silence, they scream shrill war cries and brandish weapons.

Not really believing in what he is about to say, Morbus readies his sword as he speaks, "Know this, goblins: we come in peace. We are not necessarily your enemies. I've seen enough blood, but if you want to fight I can not stop you. I can only assure you that it will be your blood. Not ours."
