The large room at the top of the stairs are filled to the rafters with crates and barrels. Upon further inspection, it becomes clear that they are all filled with food. Mostly pickles.
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
"I hate pickles" you hear Osmus mumbling.

Morbus walks down the stairs and into the room closest to the entrance of the building. He then tries the door handle of the northern door to the far left.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
This large courtyard is open to the sky. Tenacious clumps of partially trampled grass grow fitfully here and there in the hard-packed earth, in places stained with blood or scratched with furrows. To the north, what looks to be two dead goblins lie slumped at the entrance to an outbuilding.

Reta gives you a weird look. 'Well,' she says, 'If you're just gonna stand there lookin' stupid...' She walks over to the outbuilding and rolls over one of the dead goblins with her foot. 'Looks like 'e was kicked to death by a horse!' she yells from across the courtyard. She opens the door to the outbuilding and inspects its insides for a few moments before turning to you again. 'Ah found the horse!' she shouts. 'Would you stop standin' there like a bunch o' zombies and get yer butts over here?'

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
The door to this outbuilding is cracked and splintered and two dead goblins, their heads crushed in by something heavy, lie in the dirt by the door, their ripening bodies covered with flies. Inside the outbuilding lies a black horse.
After days of confinement and deprivation, the once magnificent warhorse Shadowmist is a shadow of his former self. His hide is covered in seeping wounds and his eyes are wild with panic. Little more than skin and bone, he is in need of prompt, careful attention if you wish to prevent the horse's death.

Jack hasn't got a clue about horse anatomy but healing one living thing is probably the same as another. So he starts seeing to the wounds with deft hands.

- Heal 16+3 a success.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
In an obscure attempt to help the horse from panicking further, Morbus tries to intimidate it to calm down. "SHUT UP!", He shouts at the horse. It seems to work. At first the horse's eyes are wide open, but the next second it clearly tries to get a grip on itself in order to please the giant and scary creature. A few seconds later it becomes a bit calmer - the horse is, however, still shaking and extremely agressive.
- Spoiler:
- intimidate check: 3+8=11

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Shara moves close to the horse from the side, pats it on the neck and blows a little air into his nostrils.
"Calm down, Beautiful. You're gonna be alright". She speaks calmly, trying to calm the poor thing down.
The horse seems slightly calmer than before.
- Spoiler:
- apparently you do this for the horse to get to know your scent, it's sort of a greeting

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
All of a sudden the horse rises and tries to kick Shathys in the head. Fortunately for Shathys the horse misses by a couple of inches. Morbus reacts instantly by taking the horse by it's legs. He forces it down on the floor, making it impossible for the horse to attack anyone or do anything.

The horse quickly gets uncomfortable, but Shara manages to treat some wounds before rolling out, without being kicked in the face.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Calmed, healed and fed, Shadowmist exits his former prison. He steps over the dead goblins, trots around the courtyard for a few moments before snorting and throwing his head in a strangely proud manner. He begins to nibble on the grass growing between the flagstones, ready to leave whenever you are.
- Spoiler:
- Success! You have restored Shadowmist to passable health and calmed him to the point where he can be safely led back to Sandpoint. He will wait in this room until you are ready to leave. You each gain 125 XP.

Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Shelves lined with crude tools, nets, and tack and harness line the walls here. To the northeast stands a large L-shaped wooden cage that contains dozens of rabbits.
Re: Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings
Shara lets the rabbits out of the cage. "There, run, be free!" She then whispers to herself. "I hope I didn't just send them in to total death and destruction. On the other hand any other death than being eaten by a goblin should make them happier."
She stuffs a net and a sharp tool into her backpack. You never know when you might need those.
