Rise of The Runelords 1 - Burnt Offerings

Morbus snaps the weakened support beam, and the tower rumbles ominously before it suddenly and violenty comes crashing to the ground. The goblins' shrieks are drowned in the cacophony of splintering, falling timber, and when the dust settles, both goblins are dead; crushed and buried by the destroyed tower.

"Well that was easy enough. I hope they didn't notice." He says with a grin.
Jack checks the corpses for a key and valuables.

The goblins have no valuables on them, but one is carrying a large iron key.

"Right." Jack says and tosses the key up in the air before catching it again. "Something tells me they know we're coming now. If you have any good ideas now is the time to tell them."

"Well, that was easy." Shathys shrugs. "I can't help the feeling that we've kicked the hornet's nest, though."

"My words exactly. Get ready." Jack says gruffly and shoves the key in the hole and turns it.

The lock clicks open.

Spoiler:

Jack hesitates for a moment. "Better check for traps."

Shathys thoughtfully picks up a pebble and bouncing it up and down on his palm, attempts to feel the door for any danger.

You detect no traps.

Jack opens the door.

The floor of this room is hard-packed soil, as if the builders either ran out of lumber after building the walls and roof, or as if they simply never thought about building a floor. A number of poorly preserved horse and dog heads are mounted along the eastern wall, while along the southern wall hangs a pair of large batlike wings tacked to the wall with daggers. The four goblins at the far end of the room have clearly been waiting for you, and as you enter, one of them screams an order to attack. Four goblin dogs on leashes snarl and snap their jaws at you.

Roll for initiative!

"Man, this place is disgusting!"

"Just like home." Shathys says.

Spoiler:

Eight screaming goblins and dogs swarm over you in a wave of teeth, axe blades and knives. Morbus deftly blocks one of the over-sized axes, but a second skullcleaver catches him unawares. The goblin dogs throw themselves at Jack, but his armor deflects their fangs and claws. A small goblin stabs Shara. It sort of hurts.

Shathys takes a step forward and strikes out against one of the dogs, decapitating it instantly before swinging his fist back and sending a smaller goblin to the floor with a sharp blow.

Morbus heaves his huge fullblade and splits one of the skullcleavers in two. Not entirely aware of the irony.

Shara turns towards the smallest goblin. She squints and the goblin blows up. When you turn around you see one of the dogs now have a serious limp and is bleeding from one eye.

'Zap zap!' Reta says, raising her staff. With a loud crack of displaced air, a bright bolt of crackling energy pierces the wounded goblin dog through the chest.

Jack points his sword upwards and tiny threads spread from the tip of his sword, wrapping around enemies around him.

Unabated, the goblin dogs throw themselves at Jack, and their furious assault keeps him from spotting the skullcleaver sneaking up and chopping through his armor.
